IS YOUR KOMBUCHA STRIPPED OF GOOD BACTERIA AND FILLED WITH SUGAR?
WELL DONE Lou @twistedkombucha for a breakthrough article in The Daily Mail that finally lifts the lid on the dishonest and shady practises of cowboy producers and large companies who are cashing in and taking advantage of lax labelling laws and uninformed consumers to pass off shallow versions and snake oil variants of “kombucha” as the real thing.
Everything from companies who add health harming sweeteners and patented probiotic powder blends to their products to those who use proprietary “Manna-K” concentrated vinegar to make instant, generic, shallow-tasting “kombucha” devoid of fermentation.
This is the first major, unbiased investigation in a UK newspaper to inform consumers on what to look out for among the minefield of dubious concoctions sold in supermarkets.
It comes some 7 months after Spain’s second biggest newspaper, El Pais, ran a major expose on cowboy brands who are misleading consumers globally and potentially causing harm to health.
